The Future of Film Sprites PR

In Christchurch today we’ve had the first particularly cold day this year, signalling a head towards autumn. Autumn weather always makes me think about when I founded Film Sprites PR in 2014. This year Sprites is turning 3 years old on April 17 but it feels like we’ve been operating for much longer, possibly because of the fact that prior to starting Sprites I had been networking and studying for my PR certification since 2012. It was in 2012 that my dream of working in the film industry suddenly sparked into life after the devastating effects of the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. So this has been a long journey!

How To Find A Mentor (And Be A Fabulous Mentoree)

When I first founded Film Sprites PR, I did everything on my own. I came from having my Bachelors’ degree and my PR certification to building a business from scratch (and almost accidentally!). But the time came when I could no longer learn through doing…I needed some mentoring- I was looking for my Yoda, my Obi-Wan, my Ancient One, my Tony Stark. Thankfully, I didn’t have to go to some far-flung galactic swamp to be taunted by a wrinkled green Muppet to receive the assistance I needed.

No matter what industry you are in, mentoring is a great idea. Having a mentor means you can receive insights and assistance from someone who is removed enough from your situation that they can give you impartial and practical steps to help you step fully into your greatness.

Now, Film Sprites PR is not handling publicity or digital marketing for the Barber Brothers’ crowdfunding campaign for their film The Last, but it’s been a pleasure seeing their Tweets pop up in my feed because they are so on point with social media for their campaign. Film Sprites PR is thrilled to be assisting publicity and digital marketing of The Northern Line Series in preparation for the crowdfunding campaign for the fourth short film in the series, Medusa’s Kitchen.
